7th Grade Applying Technology - Design Briefs


Technology Videos
  Students will watch and discuss a variety of technology videos involving transportation, production (manufacturing and construction), and communication.
     
Tests/Quizzes
  Students will take tests and quizzes to determine what they have learned and retained about the families of technology. Technology Handout. Technology Family lists 12.

Mac OSX Operation

 

Students will learn the basics of the Mac OSX operating system along with many keyboard shortcuts to speed up computer operations. These will be used in many class projects.

     
Applications
  Students will learn to use a variety of applications such as Photoshop, GarageBand, iTunes, iMovie, Pages, Word, QuickTime, and more.
     
Digital Camera
 

Students will learn how to use a digital camera for a variety of class projects. Students will learn the basics of composition and the rule of thirds and how to download from the camera.

     

Scanner

  Students will learn how to use a scannner for a variety of class projects.
     
Green Screen Project
 
Students will take a photo in front of the green screen and key out the green in Photoshop. They will place the student (or themselves) in front of another photo from the web or their own photo.
     
News of 2009/2010
 

Students wil investigate news stories from 2009 and 2010, write a script, and report on it. Students will record it in the Wyo5Live studio. Classmates will run the cameras, switcher, soundboard, and recording.

     
"All About Me" Podcast
  Students will create an "All About Me" podcast using photos taken with Photo Booth and photos from the web. The podcast should be no less than 20 and not longer than 60 seconds. Watch the "How to Submit" the Podcast.
     
Inventor-Invention Podcast
 
Students will create a one to two minute podcast about one of their favorite inventions or inventors. Watch the "How to Submit" the Podcast.
     
How To Podcasts
 
Students will watch tutorial videos on how to use the podcast software in GarageBand and more.
     
Race Car Body Design
 

Students will design their car body as a pattern development. This is similar to how packages are put together using the tab method.

     
Cardboard Race Car
  Students will build a cardboard race car from cardboard, matboard, dowel rods, straws, hot glue, tape, a hole punch, a cordless drill, and more.
